LIEGH BOWERY (1961- 1994) this Legend, was a performance artist that influenced art and fashion like nothing else before. Liegh Bowery was drawn many times by the artist L. Freud. Australian born Liegh went to the same clubs as l did. Suddenly l know longer saw him out at the clubs. Many years later while living in Europe a artist friend bought him to my attention again. Fashion has been influenced greatly by this artist. Designers such as Alexander Mcqueen, Victor &Rolf, Galliano, Gareth Pugh, David LaChapelle and many others. Only he would where face masks most times matching with his outfits. Not forgeting, he did it all 15yrs + ago. He is highly respected by the art world. The Victoria and Albert Museum has bought up all his outfits so they can be used for exhibitions. A genius and superb artist. By dieing l feel he left the art world a much poorer place. All the same what he left will do for many years to come. He would be paid very well to do a 10 - 15 min performance. Various wealthy art connoisseurs would sponsor his existence so he would not have the concern of money. There would be performances early in his career at Hoxton square and other public places. Galleries would show him performing live in the gallery. Leigh Bowery's performances were viewed in galleries behind glass divides. His main photographer was Fergus Greer. Works/pictures fetch very high prices in the major auction houses worldwide. l am following up with another post with many pics.
